PRODUCT SET-UP AND TIPS

The standard/metric Tap dimension must match the Extension acceptance for the shank and square dimension (minimums are published, see side chart for maximum dims).

Inspect Tap Integrity

The tolerance and dimensions of the Self-Locking design must match the Tap square and shank dims (minimums are published, see side chart for maximum dims).  Any Tap imperfections such as shank twist, rounded tap corners or over use may require elective adjustment to seat properly.

If your metric crossover dims do not match our stock extension dims, consider finding another tap with the square and shank dims that will match before placing a custom order.

Seat the Tap Firmly

1. Match the Standard/Metric Tap and Extension square and shank dimensions for best results (columns B and C).
2. Line up the Tap square corners with the Extension inner marks.  Tap the square of the Extension with lead hammer or block to seat  the Tap firmly.
3. Square of Tap should be visible in the slot window.
4. To dislodge Tap from Extension insert thin drift and tap with hammer.
5. Use in All Hand and Machine Applications.
   Not recommended for use in coolant through applications.
